MSU Dining Services: Quality Assurace (QA)
Since September 2011, I have been working in the MSU dining hall under the supervision of Dan Yerigan, who is the head of dining services on campus. My job title is Quality Assurance, so I must apply Serv-Safe procedures to guarantee food safety. My job requires me to keep accurate time and temperature logs for each food unit in the MSU Student Union Building, which includes 10 different foodservice areas. Since the quality of my work is pertinent for maintaining food safety in the SUB, I must keep open lines of communication between myself, Dan, and Toots Taszuit, who is the head of the MSU sanitation department. Responding to food hazards in a timely fashion is extremely important, so the most crucial aspect of my job is to notify the kitchen staff when problems arise and make sure corrective action is taking place. My job also requires testing to ensure health codes are being followed, as well as attendance at standard operating procedure (SOP) meetings to keep updated on current food safety information.
